A short documentary made in conjunction with the British Forces Broadcasting Service covering the expedition to recover the wreckage of Airspeed Horsa DP349 that crashed in Norway in WW2 during Operation Freshman. This was the first operational use of British assault gliders and involved an attack on the German heavy water plant that was operating in support of German atomic weapon development. The operation failed, but the subsequent successful operation by the Norwegian resistance was made famous in the film 'The Heroes of Telemark'.

  • Thanks for posting this. I visited the graves in Eiganes in 2008 to pay my respects to very brave men, who failed to return home from a terrible operation.
