Tenor Banjo Finger Picking Demo

Lew Dite tries to make sense out of his picking style on the tenor banjo.
I have been asked about my tenor banjo finger picking....
This is just the basic form... in practice I play very loosely around this pattern. I have no set pattern.

That tuning is often refered to as "Chicago tuning".

Very nice. Why that particular tuning--is it because it's the same as the top 4 strings of a guitar, or is it some kind of traditional tuning?

I wish I could claim old-timey authenticity but alas, it is because I new the guitar chords and I didn't want to learn a whole new set of chords.

The slow motion sections are great. it should be easy to learn like that.

it sounds a lot like clawhammer for the five string. i like the technique.
