My uncle's band, Knight Train, used to back up Rod every now and then a few years ago. I got to meet him a few times through my uncle and I also worked at KVPI in Ville Platte, so I knew him from there, too. Very nice man, great voice. Always loved his music. Thanks for posting!

Excellent documentary on Swamp Pop. Thank you for documenting the beginnings of this great style of music and posting it on YouTube. Merci Beaucoup!

Just came across this and it brought back memories of a trip to New Orleans and up in to Louisiana in 1981. We five English guys called in at your father's farm on our way to Floyd's Rercord Store and were made most welcome. Great to see - thanks

I was playing with Johnny and Edgar Winter at that time and was in the studio when Rod recorded in Beaumont, we were some of the staff musicians at Bill Hall's studio.

Fantastic stuff! That southern sound is just out of this world, bring on Cookie,Red Smiley,Jivin'Gene and all the others and let's have a party!!!Somehow this music will go on forever
I remember Rod from Bandstand and in 1969attended San Jose College, CA. Some friends and I went to a local bar to see Rod perform. I hope it was him and not a copycat. Rod sang contemporary songs like Roberta Flack's "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and early rock & roll which I absolutely love! I hope this was Rod as now I want to say Hello. Incidentally, I was drinking Bach beer for the first time, and missed the next day's classes. But that night I didn't want you to ever stop singing!

@beanitas Unfortunately that was not my father. I don't know who it was. "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" was definitely not in Dad's repertoire; that's not his type of music.
