Stephen M. Shortell is the Blue Cross of California Distinguished Professor of Health Policy and Management and Dean of the School of Public Health at UC-Berkeley. An adviser to the Obama administration on health care delivery system reform, he is currently conducting research on accountable care organizations and patient-centered medical homes in regard to their ability to improve quality and control the costs of care.
Here he speaks at a public forum titled "What's the Prescription for Health Care Reform" on Oct. 1, 2009 before a crowd of 400 Berkeley students. The forum was sponsored by Berkeley Students for Healthcare Reform, Boalt Hall Democrats, Berkeley College Republicans, Cal Democrats, CalPirg, the Center for Health Leadership, the Graduate Assembly and the Social Welfare Graduate Assembly
