When an Israeli girl turns 18, she must spend the following two years of her life serving in the armed forces. She is thus torn away from her usual surroundings at an age where choices concerning sexuality, education and family values are in the making. Avishag is one of these girls.

Unless you're Ultra Orthodox, then you can opt for a 6 year thora school course so you do not have to enter the Army. I would instantly turn ultra orthodox if i lived in Israel; serving (any) army sucks, and 6 years of Thoraschool is very interesting!
