IZOD indycar championship *READ DESCRIPTION PLEASE!

the IZOD indy car championship was going fine until lap 13, turn 2 took a terrible turn. just one touch of 2 wheels can lead to big problems and crashes. thats exactly what happened. contact was made between two wheels and that cause a HUGE 15 car crash. 15 drivers out of 34 were involved. because of the record setting numbe of cars on the track, there was definetly going to be crashes. but what we didnt know is that there would be one this bad. there were cars flying over other cars, spinning out of control, and slamming into walls. many car were completely destroyed. 2 cars that were demolished was the Dreyer and Reinbold's Dad's Rootbeer #22 car and Sam Schmidt Motorsports Bowers and Wilkins #77 car. but the one person you want to remember the most is, Dan Weldon, driver of the Bowers and Wilkins #77 car. Weldon tried to take safety and avoid getting hit by going to the inside of the track which was the smart thing to do, but when E.J Viso came right infront of him, safety wasnt an option. on that mark, Weldon, takes a god awful fly over and slams into the fence. he was teleported to the hospital by helicopter. the other 14 drivers that were in the crash went to the infields metical center. all the drivers that survived that god awful crash were asked to leave their cars and meet in the media center with the team owners. they discussed if the race should go on or not. but thats when they found out, 2hours after the crash, their fellow friend and teammate, Dan Weldon, has passed away. the race stopped on that mark.19 drivers were able to make it by the flying and spinning cars. only 13 of the 200 laps were completed. the 19 remaining drivers did a 5 lap solute to Dan, his family, and friends. the 2011, second time winning, indianapolis winner, father of 2 (2 year old and six month old) and only the age of 33, was dead. drivers of all, especially, Dario Francitti and Tony Kanann, lost a dear friend. Weldon was going to take place of Danica PAtrick for next season because she is switching to full-time NASCAR. it was a terrible way to end the racing season and a very sad day for all.
Dan Weldon will be in our hearts forever. may all our prayers be with his family in their time of need. Dan will forever and always be loved and dearly missed. R.I.P. Dan Weldon for you are now in a better place.
