Avatar-Speed Painting, Illustration animatic, by Dave Larks

Inspired by some great paintings I've seen up on youtube and of course the great Movie by James Cameron. This is my version of a female of the planet Pandora, the Navi. This was painted in Photoshop on a Wacom Cintiq tablet. I'd say it took about 3 days work to do.. The bar's set pretty high.
This is from my imagination, no photo reference was traced or copied. I admit I was looking at Angelina's lips and my hand in the mirror ...And to give speed paintings more entertainment value, I am dedicated to adding more and more animation to further create content for the new age of publishing.
It was animated using Adobe After Effects.
I particularly like the whole earth experience that the Navi have found. I hope, that we Humans can learn some lessons from them... sounds silly to learn from fictional characters, but it's really from the inspired mind of it's creator. James Cameron and his team of creatives.
