Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES II: THE ARCADE GAME for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). This videogame was released in 1990 at the apex of TMNT popularity from Ultra Games and Konami. You are able to play as one of the four heroes in a half-shell in this side-scrolling action beat 'em up. It is all about personal preference here. This CGR Undertow review features TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES II: THE ARCADE GAME video gameplay footage and commentary. This review is from Classic Game Room's Derek.

  • @nintendoboy17 That's because the Irate Gamer is a fucking moron. The NES was not even close to being powerful enough to make a straight port of the arcade game, and this game is as good as it could've been when the NES limitations are taken into effect. Shit, they even added levels, the arcade game was too short, I don't know what else that chode would've wanted.

STILL a fun beat-em up today.

  • @nintendoboy17 What's an Irate Gamer?

  • I love this game more than many others but, my favorite in the nes is tmnt 3: the manhattan project. I just beat it today with an advantage controller. lol Better graphics with smoother gameplay. It's also harder and longer. The enviroments aren't quite as good as The Arcade Game though.

  • I honestly don't like this game. Two problems:

    1. It's simple

    2. It's slow

I can deal with one of those, but put them together and I get bored really quickly.

  • damit now i want some pizza >_< !!

  • Say your prayers toitles !

    Haha justm type it out

  • Turtles are reptiles

  • I always enjoyed the arcade game more, even though I had to pay to play it. If I had it for SNES/Genesis, I'd have been a lot happier. I loved it & still do but the arcade game seemed more fun to me as a kid. Maybe it was faster or something. Or maybe it was b/c I could play w/ friends. We lived in Vegas in the arcade era... That was an interesting time. Games were cheap & very, very plentiful. This game was even in the pizza joint around the corner. Good pie. Not there anymore though.

  • The japanese building interior also was an extra level on the NES version

  • I remember lovin this game as a kid for some reason but as an adult I tried playin this and I just didn't have the patience. not enough lives to get anywhere....I'd rather stick in an infinite life cheat code and play the game over and over but I couldn't even find a game genie code....was just too damn difficult...same way with the third one......and the first one....forget it.....but I understand this is as good as it got for that time period and that platform

  • I don't know how it happened, but I lost the cartridge cover of the game, but I still have the green chip of this game...and it works!
