Very innovative design... They are moving in the right direction with eliminating the healing moment, so that you can make the boat as light as possible.
However, the flip-over was predictable from the design. Problem is that if the short slanted dagger board (which balances the wingsail's force) comes out of the water (due to the nose bouncing off of a wave), the wingsail will take off (it's angle causes it to have an upward component of lift), because there is nothing to hold the boat down
yeah kudos to paul larsen here but i mean come on...that isnt really a boat. its a carbon fiber twig with a wing on it. teh french Hydroptere hydrofoil trimaran was capable of these sort of speeds with 4 reefs in teh mainsail! and its 110 ft long, takes about 8 people and is a real emphasis on the "Boat" part of the record breaking.
