No need to anything, even come to YouTube. I do play my instruments, and I also enjoy to talk. Many ways to communicate. If you feel the need to shut up, then you're welcome to follow your own advice, with my blessings. One serious problem with Jazz (or classical) is an elitist attitude which shuts potential audiences out. We need to constantly cultivate new audiences, people who may not yet be "hip" enough to understand what they're listening to, so "talking" can help.....or not....

Or people can get off their fat asses and open their mind a little bit when listening to something. And I'm unaware of this elitist mindset you're talking about. I play jazz with a huge range of people, and none of them seem hesitant to explain what they're doing or how they did something. Get rid of the strawman.
