For the first time, a television debate, broadcast on 17 May, gave farming leaders for and against the trial the opportunity to put forward their cases.

During the live debate, which included some heated exchanges of opinions, Dorset farmer Jyoti Fernandes, who was representing Take the Flour Back, was repeatedly asked whether activists would carry out their threats to trash the crop.

But she refused to give scientists from Rothamsted any assurances that their experimental trial of Cadenza wheat, which has been genetically engineered to repel aphids, would not be pulled up.

drox667, you are definitely fighting an uphill battling trying to educate an apparently dogmatic organicsuperman. I've never in the past bothered to post on any videos, but this irrational backlash against GMO's has motivated me to at least put up a token opposition within this capacity. $5 says that organicsuperman has absolutely no scientific training whats so ever. It's fear of what he doesn't understand that motivates his stance on GMO's.

You have provided no evidence that GE is unsafe. You didn't even read the Surov paper, which isn't even a study.

Like I said before, if GMOs are harmful, there should be plenty of evidence, not one or two unscientific papers.

I am and have been doing so for many successful years !! The facts behind GM are clear for all to see and the facts are people do not want it, do not need it. So like i said i would appreciate no more replies you've made a fool of yourself now more than once during this debate and have zero credibility, in terms of being rud and aggressive, you are good at that, so it's no wonder you support the GM industry because bullying is how they get what they want. OMG you've totally exposed yourself with that statement, 'lizard people'.. WTF.. thus imo making anything you've said previously extremely weak in the sense you really understand what GM is all about FURTHERMORE teh way the world really works with regards to science and studies is never as clear cut as you believe it to be, always grey areas but with regards to GM these areas are not so grey when you use your common sense and know the history. Back to the research table i suggest.
