the puritans hated christmas, the whole christmas season. please don't ask why, no one quite knows the reason. it could be that their shoes were too tight or perhaps their heads weren't screwed on just right......what a bunch of grinches.

I'm pretty sure that the Puritans and atheists would agree on banning Christmas and they would also be the same in being self-righteous and believing they are right. Incidentally there is no proof that Jesus was mentally ill, even back then people would have known if someone was mentally ill or not.

@vk45de There's an understatement for you. In Puritan belief, anything that wasn't hard work or prayer was sinful. Basically, if you derived any sort of satisfaction from it, it was a sin, and you'd got to Hell unless you repented properly. And they felt they were responsible for the souls of everyone around them as well, so you can see why they weren't very popular. The Pilgrims, by the way, weren't just Puritans; a lot of groups clubbed up to fund the expedition.

the puritans were a bunch self loathing,hypocritical, humanity hating, sexually repressed(or undercover S & M freaks) makes you want to beat the shit out of them, draining ALL the happiness out of life, ass munchers!! makes you want to go back in time, gather their entire colony, put em on an island & nuke it. mustve been a living hell for some back then w/ them in existence.

maaan, this show makes me soooo appreciative of my time. jeez some of that food looks nasty and unsanitary. i do however have a tremendous amount a respect for those who HAD to live and work these jobs, but THANK GOODNESS FOR THE LAZY OUTCOME OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY. i flip out if my A/C is out or losing the remote LLS.. so me living during those times would be a death sentence. if i were able to travel back in time, it would definitely be a VERY short visit. LOL xD
