  • @Brenboy01 I think we might disagree on this one: I don't see her throwing herself at him a single time where he doesn't ask her to do so; the few times she shows initiative she eases into it to make sure he has a solid base. Taking a step does not mean the person "lost their balance"; the step is a result of building and releasing tension, and is usually premeditated.

Putting the video in the context of a class demo that is improvised and purposefully exaggerated, I am quite impressed.

  • I guess its blues dancing but I feel like she just throws herself at hima nd jumps and hopes that he can do somethng with it. Both of tehm lose their balance often. But I think this is meant to be more experimental than serious. If they are jsut goofing around and trying enw stuff out, then more power to you.

  • This is a flying demo. If you want to see them doing normal blues, watch another video.

  • @kfact0r You don't need knowledge to decide if something looks wrong, but i am an osteopath and acupuncteur who treats a lot of trauma injuries, and i can read bodies better than most. Being excessive for a moment while leading off balance can put your partner in a wheelchair for life. And i don't care how it sounds to you. Final post.

  • What should they idolize?

  • It sounded to me that you were quick to judge with little knowledge of what was going on. This is a style of blues that can be ignored or added to the dance. Whether it rocks your boat or not is up to you. Some of us really don't mind it being excessive if the moment calls for it.

  • @kfact0r Tango is graceful. I don't really care about the "technicalities" that you find so interesting, the overall impression is excessive, like adolescent sex.Improvisation is wonderful, but you have to accept that sometimes it just doesn't work.

  • Yes, it's quite obvious that it's not practiced. Nevertheless, anyone with a couple of weeks of acro training moves better with their partner. Lessa is a nice contact improv dancer, that's apparent. But idolizing routines like that is exactly the reason the current blues scene sucks.

  • @smoothtrag I highly doubt that beginners have better partner awareness. This demo is not a routine they practiced. They are just social dancing.

  • @sirprenante He's asking for her weight then releasing it to direct her around himself. His knees bend at 0:28 then lift up to lift her. He also uses her momentum to circle around with her.

Also there are no knees hitting any ribs. They don't even go past the hips.
