Say what you want, but Metallica is still an awesome band. Load and ReLoad have some of the deepest lyrics in metal history, and I commend Metallica for trying something different. As much as I love Slayer or Megadeth, they just do they same shtick for every album: FAST FAST FAST. People only want fast songs and cannot accept a bit of peace and thought, and that is a shame.

Megadeth were never about speed. They were about complexity, in riff and song structure. Protector, Dark Angel, etc, were about speed, and wrote songs unrivaled by 90% of thrash. Also, if you're listening to thrash and don't like speed go listen to glam, faggot.

@TheSonomaDude Everything from "Reign in Blood" to their last album is shit. And before you say anything about "Reign in Blood", let me tell you why it's shit. It trades in the great riff writing they had before for repetitious speed riffing that exists solely to be fast. None of the riffs are really memorable or stands-out (apart from "Necrophobic" the only good song on the album). tom's vocals sound like shit.

@Likeyoucare Early Kreator? oh give me a break..... You know Kreator themselves even stated that that album was created due to them knowing little of songwritting and musical knowledge in general. Its far from as great as Kreator's latest stuff wich actually is impressive rather then Fast fast thrash thrash. Metallica were never overly talented, they just created some great Thrash in the '80's... Sadly they ran out of so called "talent" in the '90's.

From what ivé heard, Kirk was into Cocaine back in the day...Lars also had a drug problem but it was mainly Pot and Noel Gallagher from Oasis helped them kick the habit..
