The first Philippine Marine Corps V150 upgraded through the Light Armor System Upgrade program rolls out from the Cummins Philippines facility in Laguna province, south of the capital, Manila. Three more are scheduled to be finished by the end of 2006. The upgrade includes replacing the engines with Cummins 6CTA turbocharged diesels for greater power and commonality with the LAV300 vehicles operated by the Corps. Old engines rendered surplus by the upgrade will be refurbished and used to revive derelict armored vehicles, specifically Portuguese Chaimites purchased by the Phiilppines in the 1970s. • This is a portuguese armored car: the chaimite, usede in african colonial wars;Angola and Mozambique in the seventies

  • Actually no it's not. It's a US-made V-150. The Portuguese Chaimite was based on the earlier US V100. Portugal eventually bought V150s from the US armed with 90mm guns.

  • scrap yan sa america...binili parin para kunwari may bidding at ibinulsa ang million halagang pera ng atin bansang pilipinas kong mahal....tang ina..

  • Do some research first before you make accusations. Ignorance like yours is a big part of the problem in the Philippines. If people like you make sweeping charges without even trying to know the merits of a project, why would anyone bother to do anything?

  • your right, but caddict69 is also right, hes telling the truth but no evidence to prove it because all of the slippery generals

  • How can he be telling the truth when you say there is no evidence? And how can you say the V150 is scrap in the US when the V150 was never adopted by the US military, it was designed as a private venture for sale to third world countries. The US did borrow a few earlier model V100s from the Republic of Vietnam and eventually bought their own, and the US Army has so far bought 2000 of the updated ASV-150 (designated M1117) for Convoy and Military Police duties. So is that scrap?
