Everyone deserves to make an honest living and people have been making a lving from music for a long long time. Her songs and lyrics are beautiful and I'd rather listen to something that lifts up God than most of the stuff out there today.

@wildbagel2 i dont think its purpose was to point out 'better' Christians- since there's no such thing. its just that those Christians are the most well-known, so it emphasizes the point. the lyrics specifically is talking about certain people, but that doesn't mean they are any better. those are just people most people know and think of when they think of martyrs.

I heard this song at a talent show at my school. It's been stuck in my head all week. She ended up winning. I think she almost sang it better, cause her voice was a lot louder than the backgroung music. <3

@thegibbshow hello sir, do you consider revelation part of the nt canon? the Jesus revealed in the last book seems more fierce than the God who slaughtered babies, singed sodomites and drowned all but eight.
but what's even scarier is that 'old testament god' was the scariest when his son was on the cross before him.
i know you think i'm a fool, friend; i simply ask you to try to remember the good news of christianity when the bad news is poured out on this world.

Yes, I agree. I feel as if it's more of an example that God has given us. So many of us are taught to only believe what we see. That's just the world that we live in. Our God loves us; He wants us to SEE Him and be able to discern what is good. That's Him. That's why He has placed the example throughout history and continues to do so today. It's so that we can SEE Him through those who are following His will

It's often the second punch that a referee sees and not the first. I came after religion, not before. I only wonder why religion tries to force itself upon the whole world (how about those Crusades, huh and that Inquisition, et al), and when one resists HE becomes the bad guy. I find it much more intelligent to avoid cultism no matter what it calls itself, however high it lifts itself. Therein lies it's arrogance.

It's really not jesus one needs to worry about returning. It's that god in the old testament. That's a scary dude. He seems a lot like some of the more evil male dominant men in the middle east in the way he deals with those that cross him. Interesting, since it was they that wrote the tale...and all the other religions as well.

You will NEVER be "perfected" in christ or anywhere else. Your reply drips with arrogance as christianity is engaged in a perpetual holy war with the world. You simply excuse any misdeads in the name of christ. A human being can be free & spiritual without ANY religion. The bible cannot be taken as a history book and there is zero evidence that jesus ever even lived. His tale is more likely a composite taken originally from pagan lore. Understand, many good people find religion an assault.
I actually did not appreciate the use of images of well-known Christians in this video. I know we often think of those popular Christians as being better than other Christians, or something like that. I strongly believe that this song is specifically not talking about those well-known Christians as much as just "normal people" who have taken up the call of Christ. We need to stop idolizing the Billy Grahams and Mother Theresas and start changing the world right where Christ has placed us.

I surely appreciate your sense of keeping everyone on the same level. I do think though God has used people in history for us to look up to as Paul said look to me as I follow God...follow me to Timothy. Idols no, examples yes...otherwise what's the point of scripture?

I would like to think that the point of scripture is for us to see how God works in the world through people. Obviously, the other side of it is what the people did in response to God and the Holy Spirit - you make a good point.
You might say that the people who are in the history books are there because they are remarkable in some way - and I would agree. But I suppose the distinction I want to make is that the church doesn't always distinguish properly between "Popular" and "Good."
