Opening Scenes from Memories in Mud

A film produced by Arthur van der Starre and Raoul de Zwart
available on DVD see www.memoriesinmud.com

8 November 1941...
A British bomber crashes near the North Holland village of Berkhout.
There are no survivors.
The pilot and the navigator ar buried at the military cemetery of Bergen; the two gunners reported missing...
They are buried in the North Holland soft clay together with the wreckage of their plane.

That's when their relatives' long search for their lost ones begins, a search that will last for over 65 years...
'Memories in Mud' closely followes the salvage operations, giving Irish and British relatives and witnesses scope to say what is on their minds, with con-sideration for all partners concerned.
It also shows the officials of the Ministry of Defence (the salvage and identification as well as explosives clearance departments) in their special involvement in what is perhaps the last extensive salvage operation in the Netherlands.
