I recorded this video during a gathering called "Planetfest '97", organized by The Planetary Society in Pasadena, California, to celebrate the Pathfinder landing on Mars. It is a giant screen projection of a summary of events and activities of the 3-day meeting. The then Director of NASA, Daniel Golding, announces the station to be named The Carl Sagan Station on Mars.
Carl Sagan was the president of The Planetary Society till the day of his death, that had sadly happened barely 6 months before this gathering.
It was sort of Convention Center in Pasadena, California.

So where was this that you guys had to watch on a viewscreen?

Hehe, thank you!
Carl's "spirit" was very much in the enviroment on the occasion, he had passed away just 6 months before. Annie's speech was very emotional.
Ah, and I had the opportunity to briefly talk with her. I still regret that my English was so poor by then, that I couldn't engage in a thoughtful conversation.
