As usual, Rob Bell has used a very loose interpretation of what the Bible actually says. He's a great communicator, unfortunately not big on biblical fidelity.

Now im not saying being silent and still everyday of your waking life. But taking time out for God and only God is very beneficial. Sometimes God speaks to you during these times.

I had a friend of mine who was reversing a truck out of a driveway on a farm. Everyone was screaming at her as to what to do. She was so close to the edge, she knew she was in trouble. So she ignored everyone. Asked God to quieten her heart. And God gave her what she needed to get out of there alive & unharmed

i dunno if he's talking about literal silence here.

With all the noise in our everyday lives. we need to be still. and know that God is God.

Turn off your phone, your computer, forget about outside distractions. And just have quiet time with the Lord. Thats important. You don't always have to approach God with your wish list. You'll gain a lot in your walk if you just spend time with him. Being silent. being still.

Exactly. You shouldnt dislike anyone for such reasons. We are not to judge, but to live in harmony with each other, so lets hear what each person has to say and talk/debate. Lets not be too politically correct or we become narrowminded, but there are ways of saying things and when you say "I dont like this guy", try saying, "Im not sure about what hes saying because?"

As a God loving person, I would like to protect what he really says in His word. Not what we would like for it to say.

i don't understand why a God loving person would have negative things to say about these Nooma videos. it may not be exact, or what you believe, but these are wonderful ways to get the gospel out, in an interesting inspiring way. check up on your respect.

how is that possible?

well, what about him just planting his thoughts into our minds?

because of noise, we don't notice.

but in the silence, everything that we're thinking gets absorbed by us.

ok God speaks in so many ways, that we cant limit him, but this point of view is that some times we have to shut things up and be still, quite and rest to listen to him.
