This is an excerpt from "A Narnian lullaby" by Harry Gregson-Williams.

This song was featured in "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" in the scene where Mr Tumnus plays his Narnian instrument to put Lucy to sleep.

Although the original was played in a duduk in a much higher key, this clip shows it played on a duduk in the key of "A".

The duduk was made by Artur Grigoryan and is a first-class, well made instrument.

The reed was made by Gevorg Dabaghyan and is very controllable and has great dynamic range.

This was recorded on my MacBook Pro using its inbuilt microphone. Audacity was used to add reverb and compression.

it actually doesn't require that much effort. the mouth embouchure needs to be like that for the correct timbre, but if you have good reeds, it's not as hard as you think.

if you have a lathe, some wood working experience and flute making skill then you can easily make a new body for a duduk. otherwise you are stuck with whatever is out there, I'm afraid... Check the Yahoo duduk forum. there might be more knowledge there. good luck!

thank you! Google "vache sharafyan" and email him. he will provide details on how to purchase a good quality duduk. the duduks on eBay are a waste of your money.
