in 1988, CBS Storybreak's closing credits are slightly different from the 1985-86/87 credits. The 1988 closing credits features "Southern Star Productions" with thunder in the end.

I didn't even know this video existed until just now. And for that matter that there was more then one book. I loved the first book, and read it back when I was in high school, but the book itself did not list any sequels. So I just learned today that there was a series. I need to track them down. Thank you for providing this, and as I understand, you're the author. So thank you a million times over for writing the books. I look forward to reading the rest of the series when I find it.

Does Alan Oppenheimer play the voice of Stacker or of the narrator?
And which one's Michael Bell?

Oh, I believe one other episode was done by H-B/Wang in season 1, and "Harry, the Fat Bear Spy" was animated at a studio in New Mexico.
-
Also, the character, storyboard, and background designs for most episodes were done in the United States before the main production was done in Australia.

Southern Star did every episode, except for Yeh-Shen, which was done by Hanna-Barbera in Hollywood and Wang Film Productions/Cuckoo's Nest in Taiwan.
Perhaps it was the "pilot" for the series (even though was the second to air)...

Very nice film!Thanks for posting!

It certainly was the case with me! I don't know if I'm just easily pleased or what, but I still find it entertaining, even after all these years and after reading the book. :) I think they did a good job of culling a simple, entertaining fable from it.
I believe that Michael Bell played Thakur (pronounced Ta-KOOR - the film got it wrong, which is why it sounds like "Stacker". I didn't see a narrator credit in this part. It may be at the beginning. I'll look. Thanks for all the info about Southern Star.Actually, I quite like this little film. Considering length, time, money, and other limitations, it was pretty decent for it's time (mid1980s). Of course I'd like to see a feature film by Pixar, Blue Sky, or the guy that did Avatar. ;)

The Southern Star company also did "Teen Wolf," "The Berenstain Bears" (1985 series) and "Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue"

Did Southern Star do all the Storybreak episodes, or did CBS get other animation sompanies involved? Creative design input. I think I sent some sketches of what the cats and three-horns looked like. I'm not sure if they used them. Usually authors don't get much input unless they happen to be J.K. Rowling

Wow, you must of been thrilled when you heard your book was going to be animated! I can't imagine how cool that would be. I'm rather impressed by the run cycles in this, they aren't too bad.

I definitely was! Quite a few books get optioned for film, but very few are actually adapted. I was so elated that my friends nearly had to peel me off the ceiling.
