The parties might be respected for whatever reason, good or bad.

It's the individual at the top, that person rarely deserve any respect at all, especially since most of them are just "the face of the party".

At any rate, this is just waaay off-topic, let's get back to it.

Humans are the only ones that care that they trip, animals still know what happened, but they aren't bothered.

@Kretain Political parties aren't what I'm talking about. but they're respected for the same base reasons that I said, whether they're justified or not.

First example that pops into my head, political parties, the person at the top is automatically respected by everyone that wants to be in that party, who he/she is, or what that person thinks is irrelevant, the respect is always there, just because the group said so.

Btw, I find it quite amusing that we have gone from 'falling down' to 'respecting sociopaths'.

@Kretain I don't think anyone past grade 8 actually conforms to any cliques where they can't act like themselves. Bob himself is at the top for one reason or another, and to be at the top, you have to be respected, that's just how it is.

@spoogeling First off, MOST people ARE stupid, in a group it just gets amplified.

And also, there is no way for you to know who you're talking to, Bob might be all of the above, but just because you want in on the group action, you follow their suite and show respect to Bob, next time you are introduced to someone new, a friend of a friend or something, take a look at how you act.

And then again when talking to a new work collegue.

@Kretain Now let's look at it this way; how did Bob get to where he is?

Did he pound someone's face in? Did he worm his way to the top by getting to know people and leading effectively? Or did he just slander his way there, basically cutting down competition using a sharp tongue? Each of these things can be respected for different reasons, choice 2 is just the least scary of the bunch.

I don't know about you. but I do what people say only If I'm sure they know what they're talking about
