If you want to give your 8800GT the "silent treatment" a good option is the $30 Accelero S1 Rev.2 - When I researched this cooling option one of the few recurring complaints were about the lack of a provided heat sinks for the voltage regulators. This mod shows how to use the provided sinks to work for the 8800's regulators.
dude i hate heat syncs without fans :P 8800 is beast

I just installed the Accelero S1 Rev2 on my 8800GT, and they now have the voltage regulator heatsink cut into 4 pieces of similar width as your modified sink. So for your card it would have worked without modification.
I installed it on a Leadtek 8800GT, which had the voltage regulators spread around in groups so I had to use other ramsinks I had around on them.

hey. good video, very helpfull.
ive recently bought this for my 8800GT.
if you really want lower temps i would recommend using zip ties to attach a low rpm 120mm fan to it. it wont add to the noise level much if you get a decent fan.
thanks for the vid..

u do not need the voltage regulator heat-spreader because nvidia chips run so cool, you would not need one, even if you are OCing it, to a certain extent.
