Classic 70's lingala song. Reminds me of the Kampala of the 1970's, when Amin ruled supreme. Remember those bell-bottoms, eh?

This guy Verckys Kiamuangana is quite a legend! He had an unerring ear for quality evidenced by his tireless work in bringing in the new lingala 70's sound. In 1974 music legend James Brown, on his visit to Zaire to perform at the Muhammad Ali-George Foreman fight, dubbed Verckys Kiamuangana as "Mister Dynamite"!

He is Verckys Kiamuangana Mateta. He and Sam Mangwana are two different people! Kiamuangana was born in 1944 in Kisantu, Congo. In 1969 he left Franco's TPOK Jazz to form his own band Orchestre Veve. In 1972 some of his band members left to form Orchestre Sosoliso Trio Madjesi. He recruited Pepe Kalle. At age 25 Kiamuangana established his own studio in Kinshasa going on to create and produce great bands such as Orchestre Lipua Lipua, Orch Kiam, Orch Les Kamale, Zaiko Langa Langa, Kofi Olomide.
