Weather Intervention...

Ever had a battle with an opponent, where they use a move that ultimately backfires? I find myself saying (especially nowadays) "why do that" a lot. You'll know what I'm referring to when you see Latios attack. I can understand the use of Surf, but surely having Protect on your partner makes more sense, rather than having a your attack cripple your ally?

The level of skill that my opponent used was somewhat mediocre. They performed clumsy to begin with and then almost made up for it towards the end. I find myself facing those sort of opponents a lot of the time, and it's incredibly frustrating. I've deleted countless video capture footage where I completely dominate. As most of you already know, I prefer to experience a cliffhanger of a battle. You know, the ones that make you say "that was close"!....

In all honesty, you can blatantly tell the difference in the level of skill between a random PBR opponent and a Black or White random wi-fi opponent. Despite the upgrades of moves, abilities within the 5th gen, I would have to say that B/W random wi-fi offers a far more intense battling experience. Shame about the disconnects though!

Random wi-fi double battle at the: Main Street Colosseum.
My opponent used: Latios, Kyogre, Typhlosion and Groudon.
Conley: Blaziken, Exeggutor, Shiftry and Solrock.

  • I expected Sunny Day instead of Hypnosis from your Exeggutor seeing the team preview there. Would have forced Kyogre off though, so it did turn out better than expected in that regard as you were able to finish em off.

    Foe was pretty much comprised of 2 or 3 combo's with virtually no team synergy. Real shame I'd say! Keep it up!

  • @FierceBirdOfFlame - I very rarely have use for sunny day, unless I'm up against an opposing weather team. Hopefully not too long from now a sequel will be announced, where I can make great use of Drought Ninetales along with the full extent of the teams strategy. I admit I took a gamble on not using sunny day, but luckily I went with my gut instinct on predicting a Groudon encounter. Team synergy is greatly important and to not see it when it should be present is disappointing.

  • I think I have to disagree with your assessment of your opponent's skill. Kyogre resists Surf, so, if it hadn't been for that crit, Surf wouldn't have been a bad move. And at 2:10 your opponent was no doubt expecting Shiftry to explode. I'd say your opponent had a decent amount of skill, but just ended up overpredicting.

  • @Antar1011 - I can relate to what your stating, no doubt. But, why would anyone want to risk hurting their own Pokemon regardless as to whether they resist the attack or not? The way I see it is, the more HP you have, the better the chance of success.

    As for your observation regarding the double Protect is fairly understandable. Lucky for them I don't carry Explosion on Shiftry. I thought using Protect at 2:10 was a pretty cool move to scout for priorities.

  • If you don't mind me asking, why not put Sleep Powder over Hypnosis on Exeggutor. It's more accurate.

  • @sparkyblu - Ah yeah your right. I thought Hypnosis was at 80% accuracy, which is why I originally assigned Exeggutor with it. The fact that it's 70% and Sleep Powder is 75% accurate makes more sense to replace the move. I assumed Hypnosis was more accurate due to the amount of players using it and how successful it's been used against me. Thank you for rectifying that for me ;-}

  • Great battle as always!

  • See what happens when you get a big head Mr. How many times have I told you to think outside the box. Surf on Latios was used mainly to eliminate a focus sash on one or both of your leads. The opponent figured in the rain that it would KO Blaziken and Ice Beam would take out the two leads. However, being you and only you, like I would expect. You showed them otherwise. I must say one thing, at least you were honest enough to say you were suprised bout the sash on Typhlosion. Good battle bro!

  • How dare you kill Latios and Kyogre, Tyler!! D= Jk, jk.

    The battle was really enjoyable, despite the silly moves your opponent made here and there, it was still a great battle!

  • Great battle as always atreecko. Well played battle by you and the opponent was ablt to making up for it a bit, which was interesting to see if they could turn it around or not. Keep up the great work!
