Wynona Ryder played the part of May perfectly. She struck the perfect chord. The perfect society young lady who it turns out is more resourceful than her husband realizes. She deserved the nominations she got!

I find it ironic that he thought he was smarter than the rest of his friends and family, however, they all ended up being aware the entire time of what was going on.

@deanriam I think it's great that you're enthusiastic but, honestly, in 15 years high school students will be saying the same thing about their generation. I was 14 when this came out and, let me tell you, barely anyone I knew my age had heard of films like Bladerunner or Amadeus at that time. It's not a generation but a class and age thing. :)

The point of the film was the dilemma of conformity-do we choose the pressures of society over what we really want? It wasn't made to glorify the time period.

Now, for those of you who didn't see, I put down it was pathetic that Wino lost to Paquin at the Oscars in 1993. Now, I take it back. Though Wino or Rosei Perez deserved it waaaaaaaay more than Anna, Anna still gave a good performance. Didn't deserve the Oscar at all, but still a good performance. I still feel like a douche for ripping apart a 7 year old. God, I can be such an asshole.
