Here's the third and concluding part to the battle. The fifth battle in the countdown to a new team makes use of the fifth Battle Pass I created, the Allen Pass. Seems like only yesterday that I fought that Friend Match with surprises coming from both sides. This team is a hard one to use, since it requires a high amount of prediction to make it work.

By this point in the battle, there were two clues that meant that Togekiss is unable to attack Mawile for a significant amount of damage. (You know, with the resistance to Air Slash and all.) First, Togekiss never attacked Mawile and instead took out everyone but Mawile, even after my revealing that Mawile is used to attack. Secondly, Persian never used U-Turn on Celebi, which would have brought out Togekiss, canceled Perish Song, and definitely knock out Celebi. Together, it means Togekiss is afraid of Mawile somehow.

With Persian falling to Perish Song and Drifblim fainting from Celebi's AncientPower, all that was left at the end was Mawile vs. Togekiss, both at full health. Even though Togekiss claims another victim in Wigglytuff, I had the advantage here.

By this point, I already knew Togekiss has Nasty Plot, Air Slash, and Roost; but he only knows that Mawile has Sucker Punch and Iron Head. The last move of the game was completely calculated three turns in advance. I figured out how much damage Iron Head does to Togekiss, and figured that after two Iron Heads, the most likely move he'll make is Roost. Now, you may know Roost heals half of your maximum HP, but a side effect you might not always see is that Roost takes away the Flying type until the Pokémon gets to go again next turn. This sets me up for a Focus Punch--it can be done because Togekiss, the only foe left, isn't attacking me this turn. Without the Flying type, Togekiss is merely a Normal type and thus Focus Punch would be super-effective, knocking out Togekiss and winning the battle.

I used Mawile, Sableye, Wigglytuff, and Celebi. My opponent used Persian, Drifblim, Machamp, and Togekiss.

  • @darkofboss95 I've had one longer since.

  • If that Togekiss had Aura Sphere u woulda been toast for sure... Great job on the roost prediction there

  • @ClefairyRox I already determined Togekiss doesn't have Aura Sphere, or else that move would've shown up earlier.
