So many years i sang this song in a cover band and had no idea of the lyrics controversy...WHO CARES! Its still one of the BEST songs out there for the club!

Oh, im sorry, my info said that the group recorded the track "Disco Dream" in 1981 BTW the groups name was "The Mean Machine"  and the grace Jones track, was the track that was used by, Duke Bootee, (percussion) and Doug Wimbush, (Bassist), aka the sugar hill's house band, so to speak. but, thanks for the info, i had been searching for that cut for years, thinking it was the sugar hill gang, but, i found it a few weeks ago.

i don't know about that grace jones pull up to the bumper  came out during the in 81 and mean machine came out that same year but you could be right i'm just saying that i heard pull up to the bumper first

Grace Jones was signed to Island; she had no connection whatsoever with Sugarhill. Sugarhill Records was notorious for using their own musicians to perform instrumental versions of popular R&B tunes for their rap artists to perform over. "Rapper's Delight" is an example of this; it was their feeble attempt to imitate "Good Times".
