If I remember it correctly there was a guy. Who had television in a way that could be afforable for a large percentage.of the people. He applied for a patent. Then came Pearl Harbor. By the time his chance improved. The 7 years were up. So the fat cats win again.

Mae West did not smoke or drink. On or off the set. Fields began flubbing his lines. So Mae banned drink and smoke on set. Fields was cought sneaking alchol in his hollowed out walking cane.
Then he filmed his scenes early before the booze kicked in. Mae filmed separtly. If you notice 99% of the shots are dubded together. They are filmed in separate shots then put together.

you know you may be right! i remember reading somewhere that may west's dislike for smoking and drinking was due to her father doing both and she absolutely could not stand it.
