It doesn't matter if she wasn't as famous, my response was to the previous comment about no other female artist doing "stuff like this" the Runaways started performing in 1975, dressing "risque" etc., besides I am Madonna fan.

Like it or not, Madonna will be the one associated w/that particular look because she was the one person who most popularized it to the point that throngs of teenage girls began to copy her look from hair/makeup to attire & accessories.Vanity, Cherie, et all will not have that same distinction.Right or wrong that is the way Madonna will be remembered. Add to that her ability to change her look&sound&help put out a concert like Blond Ambition and she just blows these other ladies out of the water

YouTube certainly isn't the only place to watch a Madonna video! Besides, I've got them all committed to memory at this point!! And it seems that live clips are still up. Warner Bros. is so stupid. Give in to the technology guys! They're music videos, not the secret formula for Coke!!

In that case most artists do their OWN thing. I hope you can live without Madonna. She's being banned fron YouTube, but I'm sure you will find other places to look at her videos.

Yeah, but in all honesty Cherie Currie was not even close to as famous as Madonna was by the time she had female fans copying her hair & dress in 1984/85. There are early photos of Madonna while she was in college in Michigan & her early years (pre-fame) in NY in which she dressed this way. It wasn't a random thing.
