Highlights from the VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival XXVI Group 10 Sprint race (Formula Vee, Formula Jr) on September 10th, 2011 at Road America. This was my second race weekend in my 1969 Lynx B. I qualified 11th on the grid (7th in the Formula Vee class) and finished 8th (4th in the FV class).
Garrett Van Camp qualified 3rd overall and 1st in FV but his motor blew during the qualifying session and he started the race in the back in a borrowed car (you have to love the Vintage FV community!), so I owe at least one place to him.
I edited the 6 laps down to mostly the dicing/passes but lap 5 is shown in its entirety because I think it was my fast lap of the race and you can see the top three FV cars battling for position up ahead. In the end Mike Kitzmiller in the green Lynx B wins the FV class by 7 thousandths of a second (.007!!) over Frank Newton in the red Lynx - it doesn't get much closer than that!
Enjoyed your videos! We race FVs with CVAR. I am also doing in-car videos if you would like to check out our tracks in Texas and Oklahoma. Search for Bigger Hammer Racing. Hope to be able to come up and run with you guys some time! Bill Griffith
