CROW VENDING MACHINE #2

My first video on this mach. may not have been too clear. So here is the over all idea. My machine takes all change and spits out dog food. I have CROWS in my back yard eating my dogs food any way so might as well TRY to make them work for me. The plan. Week one, make a box. (Let me digress, I had to learn a bunch about electronics so I all ready got something out of this project.) Week two. Let the CROWS get used to the box. Week three. Feed the CROWS so they know that if a coin falls in the slot food will come out the auger (The white spot on the box.) Week four put coins out close to the slot, hoping that they will figure out pushing a coin into the slit will get them food. Week five. Move the coins a short distance away from slit. CROWS will have to learn to take them to slot. Week six. Spread coins in yard and hopefully CROWS will fly them to slot. Week seven "The Goal!" CROWN will fly around town bringing me coins for a small portion of god food. I am now in week two... so far so good.

Very nice! Did you try leave spare coins on the top of platform. Giving a chance for crows insert in the slot? Or coins somewhere on the ground nearby the vending machine?

It rained and I had to fix some parts in it. It's all ready to go again.

I think, the crows wasn't getting it cause they could not see the food.

So, I put a window in it. I have been working on other projects and have not put it back out in the yard.

When I get time I'll jive it another go.

Your technique of pecking the pellets & allowing the coins to fall in is a smart move. However, do you think there are a chance the crow's reception would understand its purpose of a coin being inserted and get more pellets? Perhaps, to effectively get the crow's understanding more about the vending machine is by demonstrating or align its slot with an outlet or two holes on the top of platform would visually see the slot & the outlet altogether. (Revision is effective)

once the crows figure out the machine, if you stop giving them quarters, they'll fly around and find them where people drop them and bring them to you.
