Hillsboro, OR 3/16/10 at approximately 3:30 in the morning.
Fast forward to approximately
50 seconds in you will hear the sound that woke me up starting at 3:00 a.m. on 3/16/10. You can even hear a muffled constant noise in the background. When I videotaped this, it was a half hour later after I woke up. This sound went off every 2 minutes lasting 15-20 seconds. Somehow I was lucky enough to get the last cycle. I have lived near a small airport for 12 years. However, this noise was loud enough to rattle my windows, when any other aircraft in the past hasn't done so. Keep in mind that I live about 3 miles away from this small airport. We don't have huge airliners that come in. Is anyone familiar with what it might be? I'm guessing military aircraft, or testing on some jet engine. However, I do question why at this early in the morning. Hmmm.....
At around 1:43ish you will hear the sound in the background totally go out. If you turn up the volume (and wear earphones) you can even hear almost like a power down type noise. The muffled sound in the background goes completely out. Very interesting. For those of you who say this is just a jet taking off, why didn't I see anything in the sky, especially when it happened about 10-15 times in a half hour period? Who knows how long this was going before I finally woke up.
Hopefully, the airport will let me know what was going on. However, I really doubt it. There is a sound code they are supposed to enforce considering residential areas are all around them.
Sorry for the extra tape, I was just trying to see if there was going to be anymore.
all these sound are being herd around 3am... they talked about this on coast to coast last night..

Sept. 7, 2011 there was a horrible rumbling sound coming from the sky ... horribly horribly terrifying sound that so was fearful my mom ran to her house from the front yard. My dad said the sound was louder than 1,000 flying jets. Dogs barked in fear. Horse freaked out and panicked. The sound was so horrible and loud it made my mom think a whole mountain fell to the earth destroyed. Oregon Coast, Alsea Area. ONE woman so terrified she didn't know if this was going to be an earthquake.

I heard this exact thing in Redding, CA in summer of 2010. Sounded like a jet engine alternating between idle and thrusting over the course of 15 minutes to 1/2 hour. As I recall the power up stage lasted longer than it did here. I just assumed that it came from Redding Airport, as the sound was stationary, not something flying. I thought it very rude they were doing this late at night: around midnight as I recall. Been here 15 years though and never heard it before or since. Interesting.

Intriguing stuff. I clicked on this video thinking maybe it was a large "boom" sound--I heard that a couple times maybe two years ago...I mean REALLY loud, at like 1am. Sounded like there was a military tank firing in the street in front of my house.
