we done this at school today, we started off with a tiny bit, then we kept getting bigger and bigger, it was in a glass bowl, there was like a 2x2x2 cm peice, we put it in and every1 shat themselves and the bowl shattered! LMFAO it was so funny!

@SapphireLovesTheSea At my school my teacher made a lump of potassium and sodium and threw it in a container. Talk about ear rape. It's a really loud explosion.

For all you non-Chemists: The reaction of potassium metal with water proudces potassium hydroxide (a very strong base) and hydrogen gas. The reaction is so exothermic (hot) the hydrogen produced instanly explodes. I have made solutions of alkoxide bases for chemistry labs and it is by far the greatest thing about being a TA for a chem lab.

we can't do this at school, because when they did it before, the bowl exploded!
