Here is what Dad reads in the beginning...

A little over a year ago as some or maybe most of you know, my wife Lynnette was diagnosed with breast cancer. After watching her experience what she has over the past year I have gained a little perspective on life. I know there are others in our community and in our church family that have had their battles with illness as well, and I have been amazed by their courage and their faith in God, especially Lynnette; hardly ever complaining about what she was going through or had gone through, Lynnette never made an excuse; never knowing what lie ahead of her she got up every day, put her life in God's hands and asked Him for his strength and did what she needed to do. I was truly inspired by her strength. We have had the opportunity to witness others battle with their own illnesses: Karen, Lisa, Jane, Jean, and Kurt, and I am sure they all have asked for God's strength as well. That is what has brought me here this morning. Over the past year I have looked back on my own life. Things I myself have put off, taken for granted. I always found an excuse. That changed a year ago. I thought to myself how can I watch my wife go through what she has knowing she was scared to death, but she never made an excuse for what she had to do each and every day. She got up and went to her treatments, doctor appointments, and did what she had to do. She is by far the bravest person I know. I needed to quit making excuses for myself. I had to put my fears away so I can show Lynnette that I am not afraid and I know God is watching over us, regardless of what lies ahead for her and I. We have been blessed with many things in our life and this past week God blessed us with our 32nd wedding anniversary; so this is my promise to my wife Lynnette for another 32 years. I Cross My Heart.

I am so proud of him!
