Hi, all I used was a Mini DV Digital camera with a tripod, a green screen which I bought of ebay, and the chroma key effect plus other effects (like moving objects around, transitions etc) were done in Adobe Premiere Pro. Most video editing packages should have a chroma key feature though, like Serif Movie Plus for instance.
