P.metallica handling - Stunning Blue Tarantula/Spider

Last molt was only 1 month ago (if you watch my regular updates) she has gone from 3.8 - 4.5" as of 30/11/11 (2 days ago) and the blue is just so apparent, a really stunning spider for sure!

  • I was wondering how you could handle her like that, why was she showing no aggression ????? Then I realised!!! Had she only just shed??? Cos if she had that would explain it..... You should leave her a couple of weeks after a molt for her cuticle to harden, you could do her some real damage... That would explain why she was so slow aswell...... Beautiful T though...

  • @Arachnid1977 Yeah, just molted like 4 days ago or something (you can tell by the fully dried molt) I let them harden up first although it's recommended that you wait for a couple of weeks at this size, she was pretty hardened though, as long as I made slow movements, I doubt i'll hurt her.

I'm not gonna shoot a video any other way, getting them out of the burrow can be problematic when they are up to speed.

  • ya definately should be in an arboreal style tank.... and btw if she bites you its gonna be pretty damn painful, some arm cramping probably lol, poecilotherias are all pretty nasty if they bite you

  • @JordDBdrummer She is in an exo terra 30 x 30 x 60, I raised her from 1" you don't just put a baby into a full adult enclosure... as stated she molted a few days before this video was shot.

Now she is in her full enclosure I will add the next video when she molts (probably in the next couple of weeks).

It really doesn't matter what tub you use, pokies will sometimes burrow on the ground as she is doing now, but I had this tub tilted on its side so it was an arboreal tub.

  • @whiteyr44 I laid the tank flat for the benifet of getting her out for the video, you can see the soil in this video was stacked towards the bottom end.

Anyway I hope this clears things up.

  • @JordDBdrummer HELLO HOW ARE YOU. ME has attracted much attention this type of pet, tell me how dangerous is to have them. And as it is dangerous is the bite. THANKS

  • @RaeMarie518 tarantulas are honestly the best pet ever. live super long if its a female, so many different personalities, and so easy to care for (depending on the species) and super cheap! good creatures too not like everyone seems to think

  • @fantasticfink £70 as a 1" sling (legspan)... worth anywhere from £150-250 right now :)

  • @whiteyr44 oh wow! how much was she?
