Don't know about South America but where I come from (Peru) we had a lot of Okinawan immigrants from early 1900s and so on.
I love them, and the japanese culture. Without them and the other cultures that merged to ours, Peru wouldn't be an interesting country as a kid growing up.
@EuroArgentina12 You're right about the asian people who emigrated to perú.. but there's noooo way peruvian food is like chinese food! haha

Yes, I think many people from Okinawa went to South America to escape from the WWII. So, there is a large Okinawan community in South America

northern southern peru is filled with asian people Japanese, Chinese and Thai. peruvian people are mix with people from asia. migration started 1750.
peruvian food is like chinese food.

Are there many Okinawan in South American? I have met one Okinawan in Hawaii. I love Okinawan music. I would love to study their language, too.
