@carfaxguitars Hi! there is a Fender Mexican 60th Anniversary Strat in blue on Kijiji for $350 totally in my price range though I immediately plan on swapping the rear pickup for a JB but just curious why you wouldn't recommend it?

@carfaxguitars why wouldnt you recomend it? i love mine

I guess like most modern Fenders, the quality can vary. I have one and I love it. Bought it new at Guitar Center in 2006. They had 2, and I picked the better one. I had it professionally set up and have not had to adjust it since. Of course I also have some Mexican Strats that I love as well, even a Chinese 50's Classic Vibe, but the pick-ups on this American Diamond are by far the best sounding.

i have the MIM and the MIA commemorative 60th anniversary strats and i think the MIM is so much better in feeling, but the MIA pickups are just amazing, MIM just needs an upgrade on pickups and it'll probably own the MIA

The American Deluxe strats are very well made. I have a 2004 with noiseless pups and s-1 switching. 3 color sunburst rosewood neck. I have two 1968 strats and they are still great guitars with tons of mojo but the deluxe is a much better guitar. Just my opinion.
I also have a 2008 52 vintage hot rod tele with the Seymour Duncan mini humbucker in the neck and some kind of a custom pup in the bridge. A completely different sound. I owned 3 teles before this one and this one is my favorite.

I have a 60th anniversary mexican strat. it is really good quality except the pickups suck shit nuggets. I put some 57/62 and it sounds a little better. I should have put some hot noiseless pickups instead.

What did the competition consist of?

I've owned many strats:custom shop, reissue,Amer. Std. MIJ. and a Mexican, and they're all different. You being right handed are so lucky because you can try out 100 guitars in a weedend and decide which one sounds and plays best-and that's just what you should do. My reissue was just as good as the custom shop, but my $490 MIJ is my favorite-just feels and sounds great. I say try out many guitars and save $ and buy used.
this isnt the first 60th anniversary guitar ive seen. just curious, is it mexican or usa made?

This was the US version - I won it in a Fender competition...lucky me! Don't have it any more though, I wouldn't recommend it really. There was a Mexican version made in diamond white which looked nice although I never played one.

~Do you like the analog mod...or stock pedal better..??
ftele 4 years ago
This weekend I'm hoping to A/B the analogman and a stock TS9 tubescreamer so will post a better reply after that. However, I do have a stock TS10 tubescreamer too which is a good pedal but very different to the analogman. The analogman has more clarity and feel to it. I do love the analogman pedal though so would recommend to anybody. Mind you, as with all pedals, you need to have a decent amp sitting after it.

What sort of pickups does this guitar have?
JohnDeacon 4 years ago
Hi there,
It had American Vintage 57 Strat single-coil pickups according to Fender. This model was the US version, not to be confused with the Mexican which was blizzard white/silver.
I don't have the guitar anymore (or amp) but they were very sweet and tuneful, if not as hot as my Texas Specials which appear with the same amp in some of the other vids.
