We finally got the African dwarf frogs we wanted for this tank! One of the frogs is "fighting" with a black khuli loach for a veggie wafer here. An oto tries to get in on the action too.

(It's okay, they're friendly!)

  • I think basically as long as the fishes aren't big enough to attack the frogs, it'll be fine. They'll have plenty of room to keep to themselves in a 40 gal, anyway. The frogs are peaceful and slow enough that they wouldn't normally hurt other things, either. I have a bunch of cherry shrimps breeding in that tank now and they don't seem to have a problem with the frogs.

I'm no frog expert, though! These are my first ones.

  • @flyingstraightup

what if theyre both male or both female?

and i forgot about the head light tail light tetra. would that work also?

  • Should be no problem, as long as the water conditions are suitable for everyone. African dwarf frogs are pretty relaxed dudes, in my opinion (unless food is involved :P)

P.S. unless those 2 snails are different species, they will soon become dozens of snails...

  • I want to put 2 African dwarf frogs, a few guppies, 1 or 2 glass catfish, and 2 snails in a 40 gallon tank. Do you think that they would all get along?
