  • its a piece of shit. not a butchers block at all, they were all end grain wood at least I think?, beech was the wood of choice.

  • Your statement at the end is completely wrong. It is not completely safe. Bacteria will grow in between those splits and result in contaminating everything that touches it from then on. Not to mention the fact that knives used on those types of blocks will dull in no time flat. For best results, seal with an epoxy all crevices and splits and always use end gran, not long grain.
