One Nation Rally - October 2, 2010 [PART ONE]

Socialist Party candidate for Senate from Ohio, Dan La Botz, speaks at the rally for the Socialist contingent. The Socialist contingent was endorsed by the Socialist Party, Socialist Party of Solidarity, International Socialist Organization, Socialist Alternative, and Socialist Action. About 100 or so people were in the Socialist contingent, many of whom were queer/lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender and the majority of whom were young adults.

@MrWatchdawg77 the "socialist agenda" is to overthrow the current social order and completely transform society. The "private property" you refer to is the means of production. The factories. The offices. The machines and tools we labor with to produce societies wealth. To put that wealth to the use of the community's benefit. @MrWatchdawg77 you said the constitution ensures equal rights. If that were the case noone would ever had to fight for their right to be acknowledged. The current system of government leaves far to much room for exploitation. There is an entire class of people, the power elite, the burgousie, the international financiers, whatever you call them, that are above the law that can purchase whatever legislation they want. The state serves to seperate the rulers from the ruled.

@MrWatchdawg77 socialism is an economic model also, not a governmental form. The US constitution fails miserably at ensuring equal rights. First non-land owners had to fight for it. Then women had to fight for it. Then blacks had to and still have to fight for it. Now lgbt people are fighting for it. The US constitution does an excellent job of seperating the people from the ruling class. As it was designed to and as the founders were proud to admit. See federalist papers.
