Solo performance by the choreographer, Profile uses text and movement to translate the susceptibility of self image generated by the mass public. Multiple personal profiles on the World Wide Web broadcast an impression one perceives, or would like to perceive, as true. The broad Internet audience is given the power to view a flat image on the screen of their own personal computer, and from the comforts of home, judges others. We, the mass public, put ourselves out for display and critical review. Patricia Noworol digests this disturbing angle of our modern human nature and magnifies it through the use of projected live video in Profile. From the dry wit in her speech when describing her online mood status, to her sexy attitudes while declaring her heroes, Patricia sarcastically displays the hidden complexity of simple online profiles. Turning the camera on the audience, the backdrop becomes a mirror, and the dark house is lit to reveal all the judges in the comfort of their seats. Patricia boldly places her audience in a very tangible, uncomfortable state, then strips herself of the perceived broadcast and delves into the complex world of her reality. Her quirky movements and frustrations due to her lack of emotions provide insights into a truer, deeper and often darker profile. Patricia Noworol has poetically put herself on display to her audience but not to be judged, only to honestly share herself and her art.
