The American Natalie Coughlin used superior wall work to completely dominate the field en route to a winning effort of 59.88. After setting the world record last month with a time of 56.51, Coughlin coasted in the final 25 meters to gear up for other races later this session. Germany's Christin Zenner, one of the youngest competitors in the field at just 16, placed second in 1:01.91, while Fernanda Alvarenga of Brazil took third in 1:03.27. (WCSN, WCSN.com)

  • @isyiz2 ud be natalie coughlin :)

  • @hsclane4 it is an olympic pool theyre just doing short course. why does everyone post the stupidest comments?

  • @Bmoney1998 no its short course.. do u not see the other half of the pool behind the ppl makin shure she does the correct turn and moves? plz do not make stupid comments if u dont know wat yer talking abt

  • its a short course pool. which is why it says 100 back and she did four laps. olympics swimmers are allowed to swim in 25 meter pools. but anyways natalie is awesome! GO BACKSTROKERS!

  • I'm just saying but I noticed that Coughlin did slow down in the 15-meter mark of her last 25

  • That wasn't an olympic pool... notice how she was able to streamline over half of it

  • omfg its a 100 bak scm. theres no such thing as feet in swimming....

  • short course is feet..its just a 25 meter pool.

  • This is not a 50 meter pool, though.

  • Hey smart one, this is short course, you know, 25 meters(or yards, but probably meters). How the freak could you go a 56 in the 200?
