PLease check out the version with sound!!!

OK so this is it! This is the fractal footage that I intend to use for my next fractal project! What you are seeing is unedited footage. The footage runs about 18,000 frames. Each original frame is 1920 by 1080 pixels although you will be watching it compressed and at 720 by 486 pixels. The frames were generated by a set of equations which I am still debating on whether or not to release to the public. On my Mac Pro using all four 2.66Ghz Intel Xeon cores and running 24 hours a day it took about 5 days to generate all 18,000 frames.
I found this footage after months of searching different equations and this footage particularly struck me for several reasons. First it was much easier to calculate than many other fractal equations. Second it seemed unique from the very typical Mandelbrot color banded type of fractal. But mostly because I find that it has a an eerie effect on the eye very similar to several types of optical illusions. I hope you enjoy this look inside the artistic process, feel free to leave comments!

  • My eyes started to hurt before the middle of the video!

    Weird how the

y just move as slowly as ever, but it looked like they were going hyper fast! Or something..

  • yeah the feeling of acceleration is completely and illusion the movement is completely constant . I think that the illusion is mostly related to a sort of forced perspective!

  • When a fractal hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's a moire.

  • Thank you so much for your comments! I am excited to announce that I have a rough draft soundtrack for the piece and should have the first release of the film w/ soundtrack by the end of the summer! Please subscribe to my videos so I can post videos over 10 minutes:)

  • Nice capture. I have seen this type of effect at times in some fractal zooms I run. I have never attempted to find a way to make that effect into a video worth of posting, but you did, and did it very well!

I love seeing things through the eyes of others you know how to "see the it" in things.

    Thanks
