A WET is a multiple floor high rise building without walls (patent pending The W.E.T. (C), TM), having one vertical axis wind generator per floor providing electricity right where its needed, in the center of cities, shortening long distance electric cables, reducing at the same time power being lost due to long transmission lines, all while taking a very small fraction of space as used by traditional horizontal axis wind generators. Winds in cities with high rise office towers more than double in speed due to the funnel effect. The WET can double this speed even more by its own funneling caused by "claws" which consist of retractable sails which guide incoming wind to turn the turbines faster by seeking the highest wind speeds by computer controlled servo-motors. The claws rotate as often as the wind direction changes per floor. A common great feature of the WET is that each generator will have a claw pointed towards the direction of the wind which changes at every short interval altitude. Common horizontal axis wind generators have wind shear due to wind direction changes from top to bottom of the turbine blades. The WET has no such shearing, reducing wear and tear of the generators, and prolonging the life-span of each generator. It is likely that maintenance is needed on each floor, which will be accessible by central elevator. Each large turbine has a door same with the turbine shaft. When needed, the turbine is stopped and aligned with the elevator door allowing access to the technician to make fine adjustments or repairs. The claws are retractable sails without roof, they are light weight ensuring minimal stress to the main structure of the Tower, WET Vertical axis Turbines should turn at reasonable speeds reducing bird kills, common with horizontal axis wind generators. Finally in case of no other high rises present, 3 WET towers in triangle formation should be ideal ensuring at least one tower having very much more powerful winds. A 30 floor medium sized WET may provide between 10 to 30 Megawatts of electricity on not so windy days. Given really windy days claws sails retract. The proper way to build a WET is to construct a small one on top of already existing building or within an existing high rise in the location intended, in order to test and perfect the larger design which should theoretically pay for itself in a few years, being profitable by providing wind electricity, the fuel of the future.
