Wreckers continue to bring down the Lafayette Building in downtown Detroit on Jan. 4, 2010. The Lafayette opened in 1924 and was designed by noted theater architect C. Howard Crane, who also did the Fox Theatre in Detroit. The demolition follows a lengthy preservation battle to save the unique Italian Renaissance landmark.

If they just used the same Thermite that was wired to the Twin Towers, this wouldn't have taken very long.

the guy grabs maybe 1000 lbs at a time, if he is lucky, and there are hundreds of tones per day. Probably the best job in the world in my opinion.
