mine was really scared of water..but after a session similar to this one he's become water loving through and through...however, i do agree, it looks awful when you take them through that first swim. but especially in the summer i am glad that he will go and cool off in the lake now and then. As with children, it's down to the parent to decide how much they want to push their little one and there certainly isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.
My male chin was excited by water, but afraid of it. Now, if he sees water - beach, pool, puddles, whatever, he is obsessed with it and you have to control his access to it - if he is not on leash, he will go in any water he sees!
Just because a dog is afraid at first does not mean you should not get them adjusted to it. All chin owners who actually love their chins will understand that helping your chin grow as a dog means so much more to your dog then letting them live as a dog scared of everything. My chin used lack confidence in herself to the extent where she didn't think she could jump up onto anything. Now she jumps onto the bed, chairs, and pool table like there is no tomorrow.
That is so cruel, the dog is clearly hating it. all chin owners who actually love their chins would not put their chin thro that as chins are know for being very afraid of water
Chins are not fond of water usually, I have two and the older one hates going in the pool. Now I have to contradict myself because our newest addition has no fear of the pool and will actually walk around the edge waiting for someone to bring him in. He won't go in himself, but loves to swim with our family.
yeah, the heavy metal music totally goes with the video...I guess :/ :)

Oh... he is so adorable. I have often wondered how my Chin, now 8 months old, would be like in a pool. Thanks for posting the video. :)
