the birth of noir films... like it or not these stories will go on and get remade to its generations to come. as long as we acknowlege the roots of film and there genres cinematography will always entertain.

This movie is what noir is all about. The best. The best ever. This was made back in the days when Hollywood employed WRITERS. The movie is based on the famous novel by James M. Cain who also wrote "The Postman Always Rings Twice" and "Mildred Pierce." The screenplay was by Raymond Chandler and Billy Wilder. There isn't that much talent in all of Hollywood these days. I'm afraid there'll never be another like it.

The very opening is a metaphore for the entire film.
The sign turned to "Stop" way before the car got to the intersection. He had plenty of time to stop but kept going.
