Youtube now allowing longer clips, please enjoy the full version of that memorable moment !

So, as I mentioned on my earlier clip: on July 12, 2007, two years after the shocking switch from WCBS-FM to a JACK format (listen to my other clip), New York City happily met back its Oldies station (now number 1 in ratings !).

The new owners kicked the JACK format off the 101,1 frequency of NYC and flipped it back to WCBS-FM. The now available full-length change lasts 30 minutes, please enjoy and feel free to comment !

As you'll hear, the last JACK song is "Don't stop believing" by Journey. It ends cold on purpose to remind the blunt way WCBS-FM DJs were treated, especially Bill Brown.

And, as the last song before JACK was "Summer Wind", they had the great idea of slowly getting it back on air, followed by a great sound-and-music countdown from 1964.

Enjoy the full version of that historical come-back !

Long live WCBS-FM d'un auditeur du Québec ! (Sorry for the lack of images)

  • WCBSFM does not play good music any longer. The format has completely changed and has no right to be called CBSFM any longer

  • @fivesecondsonly What do you mean ?

  • HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY, WCBS-FM, FROM A QUÉBEC DJ !!!

  • JAck FM should rot in hell they sucked to even say they play what they want not what us people want

  • @WetPooooopie Yeah, me personally as a DJ always found it (.....) for a station to tell the people who sign their checks (the listeners) that it plays what IT wants....

  • Actually, part of the reason Dont Stop Believin ended mid-song was because that's how The Sopranos ended. The treatment of the DJs was part of it, of course.

  • @vivaeljason Yeah, I read that afterwards as well. Good choice in any way to have Jack hit the road, for various reasons ! We call that "marketing" !

  • @fivesecondsonly Hey! I did not like Jack-FM at all. At least CBS-FM back on the air.

  • Hit the Road JACK, and don't you come back no more, no more, no more!
